Graph paper is known to be a type of writing paper that has a grid printed on it. First commercially available at the end of the 18th century, the graph paper was only introduced in schools 100 years later by a mathematician at the University of Chicago. He was the one to recommend all high school and college students use squared paper in their math classes.
The main advantage of using graph paper is that it makes it easier to plot functions and draw diagrams more accurately. That’s one of the reasons why graph paper is quite popular in math and science subjects. Another reason has to do with the fact that some teachers or professors require it for their classes which means it’s not a bad idea to have a printable graph paper template available, just in case you run out of the bought stuff.
