Logo History and Design

In 2018 Denver Nuggets decided to reveal their new rebranding, with their new logos being a nod to the Nuggets’ past and their city evolution over the last 50 years. The Denver Nuggets’ move to refresh their brand has yielded a design system that harmoniously balances tradition with innovation. The new marks and uniforms embody “The Current Era” of Nuggets basketball.

The twin crossed pickaxes in the new Denver Nuggets logo symbolize strength and defense. Above these, a gold “nugget” pays homage to the team’s namesake. A modern basketball beneath updates the design with crisp lines and contrasting colors: white on top represents snow-capped Rockies while yellow at the bottom signifies gold discovered within.

This Denver Nuggets global version is a circular badge that highlights the team names. It also includes two “glints” of gold on sides.

Denver Nuggets Secondary Logo: Simplified Pickaxe

A simplified yet powerful logo that embodies the city’s strong work ethic. Inspired by the primary icon, this refreshed emblem combines the ball and pickaxes to create a clean mark that personifies “Mile High Basketball”.

This modern skyline logo design takes inspiration from the original, paying homage to the 1980s Nuggets who made it famous.

At it’s core, the logo uses the iconic two-tone basketball wrapped by the “Mile High City Basketball” inscription, a nod to a sport that’s central to Denver’s identity. Just like the global version, this logo also includes a “glint” of gold on each side.
