Logo History and Design
The current primary logo for New Orleans Pelicans was released back in 2013. In 2023 they redesigned the global logo using the primary logo and adding the wordmark “NEW ORLEANS PELICANS” stacked underneath. The new designs has a more simplistic look making it fit better with other team’s global logos.

New Orleans Pelicans Secondary Logo: “Bird-de-Lis”
This “Bird-de-Lis” logo incorporates the pelican, fleur-de-lis and a crescent basketball. The fleur-de-lis has always been part of New Orleans city’s flag due to France’s influence. But the symbol took on an even deeper meaning after Hurricane Katrina hit the region hard.

New Orleans Pelicans Secondary Logo: “Circular”
Inspired by the semi-circle bend of the Mississippi River, which earned New Orleans the nickname “Crescent City” in 1835, the team’s logo beautifully embodies this symbolism. The circular badges features the crescent basketball in it’s center, on top the wordmark “CRESCENT CITY”, in the middle two fleur-de-lis on the left and right side and at the bottom the wordmark “BASKETBALL”.

New Orleans Pelicans Logo Font
The fonts found in the New Orleans’ logo are “Pelicans” and “Arial”. Pelicans seems to be a custom-made font.
